Lionhead has opened a new place on their website called Tales of Albion. It is three part series

  1. Fragments of the Old Kingdom
  2. Fall of the Heroes
  3. Travel’s in Today’s Albion

The first part details events that occurred prior to the two Fable games. It tells of the Knight, Jack and Queen of Blades. There is a good bit on Archon, Scythe and Nostro.

CVG Visit Lionhead Studios

Published by Dark Drakan on June 8, 2008 1 Comment

CVG have recently visited the Lionhead Studios offices in Guildford and interviewed studio head Louise Copley (who was also interviewed by TR1GG3RMAN here), lead level designer Ian Wright and lead concept artist Mike McCarthy.

In the Interview CVG quizzed Lionhead on such things as the following:

*After seeing the game in person, in feels like you’ve gone out to attract a more casual audience to Fable 2, as well as traditional gamers?

*With casual games in mind then - especially the Wii which is selling like mad - how do you think a game like GTA IV can turn up today - which definitely isn’t Wii Fit - and still sell in the millions?

*How important is that Sandbox-style world to Fable?

*How are you making sure this epic world doesn’t intimidate the casual audience we were talking about earlier?

*Has it been difficult creating an art style that feels unique in the heavily-crowded Fantasy genre?

*Sony recently claimed it’d overtaken Xbox 360 in Europe. What does that mean for Lionhead?

Important: Fable 2 Gallery Clean Up

Published by projectego on June 5, 2008 Comments

Bad news, folks. I’m going to have to start removing user images that have been uploaded to the Fable 2 Gallery. I’ll explain why: yesterday it took me about 3 minutes to download a full backup of the contents of Mass Effect X; about 10 minutes for Assassin’s Creed X; an hour for Devil May Cry; and it took about two-three hours to backup the contents of ProjectEgo.net - at least, that’s how long it took before I had to cancel. You guessed it, we now have another Tsuyu, figuratively speaking. It seems that Brian (Fablefreak) has earned a spot on the staff roster, which will undoubtedly mean less spam, which can only be a good thing. Congratulations Brian! I now grant you the unofficial title “Destroyer of Spam”. Good luck with it!

Lionhead Reply To Recently Released Fable 2 Video

Published by Dark Drakan on May 14, 2008 5 Comments

Lionhead have recently written a blog in reply to the recently released footage of Fable 2 and stated it was never meant to be released in its entirety.

Last night, after a long day at the Showcase Event, we found out that Kotaku had posted a video showing Fable 2. This is not a trailer and it was never intended to be released in its entirity on the internet. Kotaku has dissapointed me, yes Mike and Brian you have. Sadly enough, it did happen and the snowball effect (other sites doing what Kotaku did) was inevitable at that point. The video was intended for broadcast media to edit into filmed interviews with Peter Molyneux. It was clearly marked as such on the Microsoft PR ftp.

Let me make this clear: we decided to be honest with everyone, to show Fable 2 as it is right now, including the 5000+ bugs that are currently being fixed by the development team. The press have reacted positively to our decision to show our game warts and all. To then see this video being released with the comments from editors (like Mike) and readers ranging from downright negative to so-so, is rather dissapointing and totally out of context.

Please understand that it represents work in progress and see it for what it is: how the game looked on 7th May 2008. We promise to release a real trailer in due course. It will be interesting to compare them…
