The Lionhead Video Diaries are back once more, in lieu of the imminent release of the Gauntlet-inspired Fable Heroes. It’s certainly worth a watch if you fancy seeing some brand spanking new gameplay footage, and learning a little more about the game’s inception. Apparently, any dolls you might unlock whilst playing Fable Heroes will ‘hang from your cart’ in Fable: The Journey.

Fable Heroes is scheduled to hit the Xbox Live Marketplace on the ~~8th~~ 2nd of May, and cost 800 MSP.

Fable Heroes achievements list revealed, expect to kill plenty of hobbes

Even if only to add to our vanity, we still love us the occasional jaunt of achievement hunting. And with Fable Heroes, we’ll certainly have your work cut out for ourselves. Lionhead Studios’ upcoming action adventure will supposedly be the very first Xbox Live Arcade title to take advantage of the newly-raised 400 Gamerscore limit, meaning that you’ll be frittering await potentially twice the amount of time tracking those last few achievements than you might have expected. Included below is the complete list of unlockable achievements you can come to look forward to conquering when Fable Heroes trots its way into a May 2nd release.

Rolled the Dice (5G)
Visit a tile on the Abilities Board. This also unlocks a tile on the Inner Board.

Better When Shared (5G)
Complete a level as part of a four-player team. This also unlocks a tile on the Inner Board.

Cast Party (20G)
Unlock all the playable characters. This also unlocks a tile on the Inner Board.

Rule the Dice (10G)
Purchase all abilities for one puppet. This also unlocks a tile on the Inner Board.

Bully (5G)
Kick a hobblet, then shoot it out of the air. This also unlocks a tile on the Inner Board.

Veg Head (5G)
Hit an enemy with its own head. This also unlocks a tile on the Inner Board.

Traitor (5G)
Kill a Hobbe while disguised as a Hobbe. This also unlocks a tile on the Inner Board.

Can’t See the Future (5G)
Complete a ‘Challenging’ level in ‘No HUD’ mode. This also unlocks a tile on the Inner Board.

One Down (5G)
Buy all abilities on a single tile. This also unlocks a tile on the Inner Board.

Puppet Beats Chicken (10G)
Complete the Chicken Bomb Mini-Game without getting hurt. This unlocks a tile on the Inner Board.

Fast & Furious (5G)
Complete the Mine Cart Mini-Game in under 13 seconds. This unlocks a tile on the Inner Board.

World Champion (20G)
Achieve a Gold Medal in every level. This also unlocks a tile on the Inner Board.

Heroes of Millfields (10G)
Complete Millfields in the world of Albion.

Heroes of Gravestone (10G)
Complete Gravestone in the world of Albion.

Fable: The Journey box art revealed, looks in-spire-ing

Dust off those Kinects, motion-gaming advocates: for the fourth, canonical entry in the beloved Fable series is nearly upon us. While Lionhead Studios are still keeping tight-lipped as to when exactly it is we can expect Fable: The Journey to materialize, we’d gamble our last experience orb that it won’t be long now before we’re waving our hands around like a lunatic, conjuring imaginary spells and fending off hobbes like nobody’s business. Thankfully, we’re also a little more clued in as to what we’ll have adorning our shelf, come the game’s release later this year. Behold:

Set five years after the events of Fable III, Fable: The Journey will see you accompany Theresa, blind seeress and all-around creepy lady, on a journey across all of Albion with a means to reaching the Spire and escaping ‘The Corruption.’

Hack-tastic: Fable Heroes gameplay video provides us with a glimpse of what’s to come

With the leaked news of a certain Fable Heroes title currently being under development by the clever folk over at Lionhead Studios, we were left scratching our heads as to what exactly we should expect from this upcoming, arcadey brawler. The lush, vibrant visuals on show in some of the screenshots had us wondering what the developer might have in store for us with this oddly cutesy-looking game. Thankfully, given the unveiling of an official gameplay trailer, we’re at least a little wiser as to what lies ahead. Behold:

Judging by the near-two minutes worth of gameplay captured, it looks as though, despite veering ever further from the series’ original RPG roots, the game might make for a remarkably enjoyable afternoon or two of multiplayer mayhem. According to Lionhead, playing through Fable Heroes and completing certain tasks will allow you to unlock certain bonuses in Fable: The Journey &mash; due out later this year — also.

Fable Heroes is an Xbox Live Arcade-bound gem is due for release later this year.

Fable: The Journey to tell its story in September, new screenies showcase magic

Lionhead Studio’s upcoming Kinect-heavy tale in the Fable saga, Fable: The Journey, has finally been given an official release date: September 4, 2012. Fable: The Journey, supposedly, will feature a “deep storyline,” chock-full of “heart-pounding action,” and will force you to “defend yourself and your trusty steed in combat against dangerous enemies, engage in hair-raising chases, solve perplexing puzzles, and interact with humorous characters.”

The countdown over at Lionhead Studios reads that we’re presently just over an hour away before the site receives something of a makeover and perhaps even the unveiling of a few other “surprises”, but it’s looking like at least one of their surprises has been mistakenly revealed by none other than Microsoft. A listing for Fable Heroes has shot up on the Xbox Live Marketplace, without any prior announcements or even murmurings from the folks over at Lionhead Studios, leading us to believe this was a secret that was intended to be kept for at least a few hours longer.

Regardless, Fable Heroes is very much a thing that’s happening, regardless of fans’ yearning for something more Fable 4 related. While we don’t know an awful lot about it at this point, what we do know is that it isn’t cut from the same RPG-shaped cloth as earlier entries in the series. Fable Heroes is more of a cartoony, party-focussed affair with support for up to four-players, apparently.

“Hero dolls” have very much been a part of Fable‘s lore since the first game, and it appears that Fable Heroes will have you hopping into the knitted booties of one. Expect more details to arrive soon when Microsoft’s PR blunder likely pushes forth an official announcement or two.

As someone whom lacks both the talent and the physique to pull off a functional cosplay outfit, I can’t help but feel blown away by the creative brilliance behind deviantArt user Dziro-kun‘s wholly impressive recreation of the original Fable‘s lead villain, Jack of Blades. Noticing a distinct lack of authentic-looking, Fable-related cosplay craftings, Dziro-kun has cobbled together a startlingly accurate rendition of Lionhead’s infamously shrill-then-deep-voiced antagonist, completely self-made. Fable: The Journey will apparently be an “on-rails” RPG title that will allow for Xbox 360 gamers to use their Kinect device to cast spells using hand gestures. Screenshots and video included below. No mention of a release date, sadly.

New “Understone Quest Pack” DLC coming on Nov. 23

Get ready to explore a whole new town with the upcoming Understone Quest Pack DLC. The life of a king is never a peaceful one and Lionhead will have you returning to Albion once again — and if you’re like me, most likely being pulled away from Black Ops — whereby you will, and I quote:

“[You] will discover a mysterious town built beneath the streets of Bowerstone, crafted by eccentric inventor Montague Hummes.”

Interesting stuff. How this mysterious town suddenly cropped up underneath Bowerstone is something I won’t be able to get my head around until November 23, which is when the DLC is set to hit the Xbox Live marketplace for a very reasonable 400 Microsoft Points. However, regardless of where the town suddenly came from, it’s having a spot of bother and an equally mysterious “Voice” is up to all sorts of menacing, mischievous… shenanigans. You’ll need to put your kingly duties to one side as you travel to Understone and battle new “novel creatures”.

Also included in the Understone Quest Pack as an added bonus is the “Shooting Range” and the “Wheel of Misfortune” — in which Reaver’s arena has been recycled into a standalone feature.

There’ll also be a fancy little bit of DLC called the “Exclusive Hair Pack” going up on the Xbox Live marketplace on the same day, which will feature a variety of new hair styles including: corn rows, an afro and asymmetrical bob styles for 160 Microsoft Points, and yet another sliver of DLC in the form of the 5 Star Dog Potion for 80 Microsoft Points.

It’s competition time! The oh-so generous Woody from Lionhead has so graciously shared 10 unique codes for the Chicken Headpiece avatar item.

Fancy winning one? Awesome-sauce. All that you need to do is post a response to this thread with something "arts-y" and you’ll be in with a chance to win one of the ten codes I have available. Poetry, drawings, videos, jokes, stories, philosophy, anything that might in some way be construed as "art" is acceptable.

There is one rule, however, your submission must in some way, shape or form, incorporate a chicken. I ‘spose you could, if you wanted to, just leave a response with only the text "Chicken" – but you won’t win a single ruddy thing (and might just end up disqualifying yourself for being so incredibly full of fail) because me, DD and Sharon will be judging our favourites and awarding the codes out to those that either: make us laugh, make us cry, make us forget what we had previously thought about chickens, etc. etc. Do put some effort in though!
