Other Rewards: None

Murder With A Twist Quest Overview
This side quest will be available to you once you have defeated Twinblade during the ‘Find The Bandit Seeress’ main story quest. When you’re ready to begin this mission, head off to Oakvale and look for a small group of guards who are talking behind one of the house at the top of the hill (it’s the house where you find the husband cheating on his wife during your childhood).

Strike up a conversation with one of the guards and he will offer you 1,000 Gold to murder the assassin who killed his brother. The assassin can be found all the way back at Twinblade’s Elite Camp, right in the tent, you should be able to pick him out as he looks distinctly different to the bandits that surround him.

Speak to the assassin and he will reveal that he is in fact the guard’s brother and that his brother paid you money to kill him so that he could claim all the inheritance for himself. Draw your weapon in front of him and he will offer to pay you double to kill the guard. Refuse him and he will add an additional 500 gold coins to the offer.

It’s entirely up to you on whom you decide to kill; if you want to do the “good” deed then kill the bandit. However you can be extra cheeky by accepting his offer of 2,500 Gold, kill him anyway and return to his brother to claim the 1,000 Gold from him.

There are generally a lot of estimated dates floating around for games nowadays so I thought I may chip in with one I found tonight- please note that this is only a pre-order date given and probably shouldn’t be believed. I was flicking through the current play.com catalogue- not sure when it arrived at my humble abode but I cast my eyes across Fable 2, available for pre-order with a release date set for 30/5/08 and an age rating of 16+

That is, 30th of May this year. Thats the closest date I have heard of so far and really isn’t too far off at all but is probably far too close to be realistic.

I also took the liberty of checking onsite at play.com and it appears to give the same release date. Heres the link: Play.com Fable 2 Page

Edit: Since the posting of this article they have changed the date to 12/12/2008

With yesterday’s massive Xbox 360 update came a slurry of brand new features and enhancements such as a revised marketplace system, better social networking tools such as the option to view friends of friends and even the ability to view DivX and XviD video straight on your very own Xbox 360.

One of the more interesting features that has been introduced however is the inclusion of classic Xbox games to download straight to your Xbox 360′s hard drive for a small fee — usually within the 1,200 credits area. One of the games that is available for download happens to be the classic Xbox RPG from Lionhead Studios, Fable: The Lost Chapters — which we just so happen to cover and have several forums for your enjoyment.

Also, with the addition of downloadable classic Xbox games comes the chance to download some very attractive new themes or “skins” for your Xbox 360 dashboard. Upon navigating your new “What’s New” tab on Xbox Live you will discover a brand new Fable: The Lost Chapters theme which is available for free. Be sure to check it out; I’m using it right now as a replacement for my Halo 3 theme and I’m personally very taken with it. There are also a handful of free Fable: The Lost Chapters gamer pictures available for free as well.

In a new interview Peter Molyneux hints about Online play in Fable 2

It has been said that, in Fable 2, players can buy buildings, and even a castle on top of a mountain. That is great… but, If I bought a castle I would like everyone to know, I would like to see other players astonished by my migthy fortress, and I mean real players. Will Fable 2 have online capabilities, so players can interact with each other?

This not something I can talk about at the moment. Online, trading, co-op and showing off are my favorite features in games (and I love working on my favorite features!)

The Lionhead Studios Awards: Fable Edition competition, which began just under a month ago, has finally ended and the winners have been announced!

We’ll start off by revealing the three runners-up, who each will get 50MB additional storage space on TMO:

The Road Less Traveled by rysto – Good narration and story plot, nice set dressing and examples of modified content. The closing scene could have lasted a little bit longer but overall a very good and touching movie! You can watch the movie here.

Lionhead by Dr_House – Quite a long intro sequence but beautifully crafted nevertheless! An extraordinary amount of modding has gone into this movie it seems which makes it refreshing. You can watch the movie here.

Trents Fable by biggstrek – Absolutely GREAT camera shots and the way it is edited makes the car chase extremely exciting! Go Rogina! You can watch the movie here.

And finally – the great winner, taking home an Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system, a signed copy of Fable 2 (when it is released) and 100MB additional storage space on TMO:

A Split Second by kuroken – Rock solid camera work and exciting editing. Lovely story and great voice acting, splendid narration too! A deserving winner of an exciting competition. You can watch the movie here.

Thanks to everyone who entered this competition, we have seen some great movies, which made the judging even harder! Also congratulations from everyone here at Lionhead Studios to the winner and runners-up!

Fable: The Lost Chapters mods have become something of a phenomenon in recent months and has helped countless Fable fans return to the game so that they may modify and enhance the game to suit their needs. You need only visit a handful of dedicated Fable fansites or even our popular Fable Modding forum to see that while Fable 2 is on the horizon and Fable is steadily maturing – it certainly isn’t going anywhere any time soon regardless of all the attention Fable 2 is receiving at the moment.

Fable modding consists of implementing your very own tweaks to the game and help mould it into something completely fresh and new. It seems like almost anything is possible when you look at some of the things our community is churning out at the moment. Here is a list I have compiled of what I believe to be some absolutely fascinating enhancements that have been kindly shared within our community that should help give you an idea of just what Fable: The Lost Chapters mods are capable of producing:

Balverine Hero Mod

I pity the fool! (an absolute must see!)

Cool Mercenaries

Son, you were adopted…

Troll Summon

Monkey Man / BIG kid in Oakvale

New Town [WIP]

Dragon’s Head Trophy

The Incredibles!

There’s also a handful very detailed, very well-explained modding tutorials and articles written by our very own Fable 2 community forums members: droded, Sephiroxas, Marcopolo, Keshire, OldBoy, Tsuyu and Albion Knight — if I missed anyone’s name out then please feel free to send me, projectego, a PM via our forums and I would be happy to add you to he list. All of these fantastic Fable modding tutorials and resources can be found within our Fable modding forum.

Since we first introduced our Fable Modding forum, I personally have been extremely impressed by the sheer number of fans who have returned to Fable and our forum. So if you own Fable: The Lost Chapters for PC (or even if you don’t – this is the perfect reason to go out there and buy it!) now could not be a better time to join the Fable modding revolution. Our Fable modding forum contains a wealth of information and all the tools and resources needed to aid you in getting started, not to mention you are always welcome to ask for help should you have have any trouble during your Fable modding adventures. Good luck!

You can also feel free to discuss this news article in our Fable community forums here: Well done, Fable Modders!

Recently we have had a major increase in activity in our “Fable Modding” Forum. I’d like to suggest to anyone and everyone who owns “Fable: The Lost Chapters” to check out this forum. There are a wide variety of different modifications for your game. Things such as FreeRoam, which allows you to wander outside the borders on any map in the game.

There are also links to FABLETLCMOD.com, which is a premier site to see the latest beta mods being created by Fable enthusiasts.

In our section however, there are step-by-step instructions on how to create your own Legendary Weapon (although you can’t change its skin, unless you know how, but you can rename it and increase its damage.) There is also a guide on how to spawn your own bodyguards (who can take form of any creature or character in the game) and there is even a guide which tells you how to change your body configuration and make yourself look like Thunder, Whisper, or any rival Hero in the game! I don’t want to spoil too much though, go check it out for yourself!

Fable Modding

Of course I have to give credit to the people who make these extensive and very in-depth guides. Sephiroxas, droded, and Albion Knight, go ahead and give yourself a pat on the back for your determination and hard work!

Bear in mind these are only for PC or Mac, so all you who play on Xbox are out of luck…

Obviously, with this being due to a glitch, it makes no difference to the way the remainder of the game plays out.

-Now let’s see what you’ve been up to…?
-Hmm…Where to start…ah…yes!

-You heard that orchard farm was rich, And chose to steal a share.
The fight ensued without a hitch; Who says life isn’t fair?

-Bring the children! Ring the bells! A unique site for all to see!
This man who evil he dispels, With piercing rays of purity!

-Into the bandits’ camp you crept, Your poor Sister’s fate to seek,
While some slept, Inside you stepped, And Twin blades rule you did defeat.

-Sing it; Jack of Blades is dead! His evil gone, his ways are past,
This Hero stands now in his stead, Love him! Fear him! Flee him, fast!

-The Traders sought Heroic help! Or on them Balverines would feast,
But one of them gave out a yelp, And turned into the fearsome beast.

-In the Graveyard called Lychfield, You were barred by stone door sealed,
On finding armour, sword, and shield, A prison entrance was revealed.

-In Hook Coast’s cold tranquillity, Lighthouse lining snow with light,
You fought Maze, thief of the key, And ran him through with all your might.

-Picture it! Call it to mind! A scene of insects huge and vile!
The Wasp Queen had good folk confined, ‘Til Hero spilled her putrid bile.

-The scars of captive years are clear, Upon this Hero’s damaged face;
He bore a fear of tortures gear, Dispelled by dreams of Mother’s grace.

-Age will catch the swiftest man, As quickly as the slowest.
Time’s aim is true, it’s mercies few, For highest and for lowest.

-In wedlock happy Hero is, A home and family awaits!
Whoever said that it was bliss, Obviously hasn’t met my wife.
(I want to meet his wife, and I don’t get this one, it doesn’t rhyme very well.)

-His clothes are those of conjuring folk, Willpower-users share his threads,
A glow beneath his flowing robes, Then lo! Another foe lies dead.
(this is the one I got when wearing my will users outfit, I don’t think he says it if your not. and he says it whether you wear light, dark or neutral.)

-Waves of monsters! Hordes of foes! The Arena was an awesome task.
But dust and blood and swords and blows, Gave way to Jack, behind his mask.

-A creature of great awe and might, Brought Knothole Glade unto it’s knees!
But the Balverine of purest white, Was pulverized with purest ease.

-Alas Alack! This man of song, Is rendered dumb, his task to hard!
My muse in Legend doth belong; You need to find a better Bard.

Update: October 1st (I found MORE!!! I only did the ‘Protect orchard farm’ quest then found him in the SECOND STORY OF THE BARBER SHOP in Bowerstone…it’s…kinda weird.)
Anyway, here they are:

-Greetings! Hail! Oh hero Bold! I am you see a famous bard,
I sing you songs, you give me gold, It really isn’t very hard.

-The rural folk of Orchard Farm, Implored you them to aid.
You kept the family safe from harm, Life is so cliched.

-Life’s great journey lies ahead; Quests! Adventures! Exploration!
Youth will stand him in good stead, While life provides him education.

-The lives of Bards are simple things, Not fraught with many dangers;
Their greatest test is generating, songs for total strangers.

-To the women folk of Albion, Nearest and remotest,
His eligibility has not gone unnoticed.

-The way of truth, of love, of good, Is beckoning this worth man,
A few more good deeds surely would, Ensure he’s Avo’s greatest fan.

(I’ll still be looking for more)

October 2nd: (And I did find more, I’ve been going to see the bard after every quest that I do. He was in the second story of the barber shop in Bowerstone for quite a while. but he’s in the tavern now. [I had to delete my game, I broke fable with too many silver keys. ^^.])

-Now full grown, through fields he treads, Fighting all his awful foes,
Youth has passed, old age ahead, Time may not be faught, he knows.

-From humble origins he sprang, Now seeds of fame he’s sowing,
With each felled foe, with every act, Our man’s renown is growing.

The good folks at Lionhead Studios were kind enough to give us devoted Fable fans a real treat with their latest news announcement made today as it contained a link to the original Fable development diaries written by Lionhead Studios’ very own Dene and Simon Carter, the co-founders of Big Blue Box. The diaries, which contains articles written between June 2002 and April 2004, gives a fascinating insight into the meticulous planning and development of Fable (or as the game was known at that time, Project Ego) by the two brothers.

You can check out Lionhead Studios’ original article here, or discuss it in our Fable Community Forums: Fable Dev Diaries.
