      I'm going to say... philosophy. I'm sorry, but at least us English majors get taught to take bullshit and synthesize it into new and less interesting bullshit.

      Although... that probably describes philosophy, too.

        Hell, I intend to join the USCG and then (possibly) go on to do some kind of analyst or research or some s*** on maritime security as a civilian.

        Or maybe I'll end up teaching, who the hell knows?

        You don't really choose a philosophy, according to a friend of mine who is taking Philosophy, it basically consists of studying several philosophies, ideologies and social theories, examining them and occasionally you have to create your own philosophy and present it. He says it deals heavily in metaphysics and logic and the lack thereof.

        Yes.

        Though, going from the few people I've talked to who've taken philosophy courses here at Maryland it was really, really, really stupid. Admittedly, though, that was basic 100-level courses, so maybe it's better as you go on. And hey, maybe Xavier philosophy courses are incredibly awesome.
