They are probably both entirely useless, but I want to study it, if I graduate with a Philosophy major and end up flipping burgers I wouldn't be too sad.
Just don't choose a philosophy that requires you to be a vegetarian or a vegan or something. Would probably make flipping burgers problematical.
If it makes you feel any better, I keep hearing stories about people who got bachelor's degrees in one thing and went on to do something completely unrelated and profitable.
You don't really choose a philosophy, according to a friend of mine who is taking Philosophy, it basically consists of studying several philosophies, ideologies and social theories, examining them and occasionally you have to create your own philosophy and present it. He says it deals heavily in metaphysics and logic and the lack thereof.
Though, going from the few people I've talked to who've taken philosophy courses here at Maryland it was really, really, really stupid. Admittedly, though, that was basic 100-level courses, so maybe it's better as you go on. And hey, maybe Xavier philosophy courses are incredibly awesome.
