I've completed both quests for driftwood but i am unable to get the switch before reaching the channel. How do you melee hit the switch?

After doing the two quests( 1. clearing out driftwood of the hobbes & 2. delivering the letter to the carpenter in mourningwood) you have to wait like 24 in game hours I think and then the achievement becomes unlocked for helping a new village flourish to life. Also, the carpenter will build a bridge to connect the melee switch to land. You hit it and then follow the switch as it creates a trail to the center of one of the main islands on driftwood. Once you reach the final destination for the switch, it activates a portal which will take you to the golden key.

Driftwood goes thru 2 transformations. The initial one happens after you complete the first sidequest. This one allowed you to hit the melee switch when it was out on that rock in the water.

The 2nd transformation will happen to driftwood after you deliver the letter to the carpenter in Mourningwood. Although, I specifically remember that the change doesnt happen immediately. You have to wait a little bit for the carpenter to finish remodeling Driftwood for the 2nd time. After the remodel, there should be a wooden plank walkway that will let you walk up to where the next melee switch is hovering, just at the stump of the tree.

in failing that you do all 3 of the driftwood quests, cos you have to escort a gambler there then wait for the achievment it aint after the carpenter the carpenter is the second person then do the switch :) im sure the gambler is in bowerstone market but thats off memory i could be wrong but it will be there or pop up then wait for the achievment to appear go do other quests or search for keys till the achievment comes up then go do the flit switch :) hope this helps i could possibly be wrong but im 90% sure :) sorry if i am wrong but worth a shot aye nothing to lose :)

There are three quests. Pest Control, Gift wood for Driftwood, and An Island Getaway.

After you finish An Island Getaway, just go about your business until you receive an achievement called Island Paradise. This is when the island is fully colonized and established. You go back and you'll find a plank right next to the inaccessible flit switch that'll help you up to get it.
